Did you know Australians have one of the highest rates of chronic disease in the world? One in 10 people suffer from kidney disease, more than one in 19 have diabetes, and a massive 1 in 5 people have cardiovascular disease! These conditions are mostly preventable through being active and eating a diet rich in vegetables and unrefined carbohydrates, and low in processed foods.
How much exercise is enough? The Australian government recommends we do about half an hour of whole body activity like walking, cycling or swimming each day - you should puff a little bit, but should still be able to talk. Some resistance exercise 2-3 times per week is also recommended for keeping bones and muscles strong, and we’ll talk about that in the next blog.
So in the meantime, how about you jump on your bike and let your body sing! (See photo attached)
