Our wheeling wandering begins at Varsity Lakes Train Station. We cycle along Gold Coast City Council bike routes/bikeways to Burleigh Heads. Here we'll pause for breakfast, for those who wish to indulge, or a snack for those who need a top up. The wonderful view will be an added bonus. Stop will be approximately 30 minutes before we head off to Currumbin Rock Pools.
Cycling over Tallebudgera Creek we head toward the old Currumbin Creek Bridge. After crossing the bridge we continue up Currumbin Creek Valley where greenery and bird song begin to take over. At Robert Neumann Park we take a slight detour around the lake and cycle through the Eco Village, keeping an eye out for the resident mob of kangaroos lounging under the trees. On arrival at the pools you might be keen for a dip in the lovely water. You first - brrrrr!
Our homeward route will be slightly different, to showcase more of the lovely area around Currumbin Valley. We'll pause for lunch on our way back to the train station. Got to keep those caffeine levels up!
